Yellowstone Vacations – Dine in Or Dine Out?
Aside from deciding where to stay on Yellowstone vacations, deciding whether to eat in or eat out can be the hardest for many people to make. Only in Yellowstone, dining in means eating at one of the many restaurants in the area and dining out means cooking your own meal over a campfire.
Campfire cooking seems simple enough. After all, isn’t it just like grilling in your own backyard? Experienced campers understand the logistics of planning a week’s worth of meals, shopping, prepping, cooking, and cleaning up. You want nourishing meals, comfort food, easy preparation, and easy clean up. One trick that works for many folks cooking their own meals on their Yellowstone vacations is to pre-prep as much as possible. Freeze what you can ahead of time, like pre-made hamburger patties. Clean, chop, or dice your vegetables and store in plastic bags or containers.
Keeping packages in zippered bags can keep out the water from melting ice. Some canned items are always nice to have along. Baked beans always taste good with a grilled burger or hot dog. Breakfast cereals and a quart of milk make for a quick, easy breakfast, but try an omelet made in a plastic bag and cooked in just a few minutes in boiling water. Kids love making these! Don’t forget to bring beverages. Water is best, especially in higher altitudes. Dehydration can set in quickly if you’re not careful. Remember the old Boy Scout rule and drink before you get thirsty, then take a drink, and then take another drink.
Some people like to do as little cooking as possible while taking their Yellowstone vacations. They prefer to visit outdoor stores that specialize in camping equipment and supplies. There they find a wide variety of pre-made and freeze-dried foods.
Most require water for preparation and some degree of heat. A word of advice is to try a few varieties before you decide to use them exclusively.
Yellowstone vacations can be fun and relaxing, especially in the evenings around the campfire, full from a yummy stew or burger, some fruit, and maybe some S’mores. But smart campers are always careful to clean up their campsite completely and to store leftover food in secure containers well away from camp. Bears can be a problem, even in the campgrounds. Nothing is more tempting to a bear then a readily accessible pile of trash left from the evening’s meal. Check with park staff to learn how you can bear proof your campsite.
Some moms especially don’t like the idea of cooking at all on their Yellowstone vacations, so they are interested in what types of dining is available for their families near the park. The sky is the limit in the communities surrounding Yellowstone National Park when it comes to dining. Many quick service cafes specialize in home cooked meals with hearty breakfasts, filling lunches, and the comfort food we all love. There are more upscale restaurants and grilles in the area than you might imagine, and they have some exquisite menus. Here meals are prepared by chefs who offer the bounty of the land in ways you might never have imagined. How about grilled salmon with huckleberry chutney, served with asparagus and roasted red potatoes? Or how about elk medallions drizzled with rosemary cabernet sauce, served with wild rice and seasoned fresh baby vegetables? Follow up with bread pudding with vanilla cream sauce or a lemon sorbet with fresh huckleberries. Try several of the local communities, lodges, and hotels for the widest selection when dining. There’s plenty for every taste and every budget.
Yellowstone vacations are a great time to try a little of dining in and dining out. A quick breakfast before that hike up to the lake to fish is an ideal way to start the day. That beautiful trout makes a tasty lunch before trying that new hiking trail. And a gourmet meal in town is a perfect way to end any day. See, you can have it all on your Yellowstone vacation.

We spend a lot of time in our cars; many people consider it just a means of getting from point “A” to point “B”. But there are some great creature comforts and downright entertaining hi tech gadgets on the market today. These gadgets won’t make your car Kit from Knight Rider (well maybe one will), but the article addresses a few items to consider, but obviously there are a lot more.
HD Radio is one of the most impressive and practical gadgets available. It provides a huge technology lead from what we have become accustomed to with AM and FM radio stations into what is now digital radio. The cost is all on the front end with the equipment, there is no monthly subscription fees, no hissing associated with radio and many more stations to choose from.
FLIR Systems developed the PathFindIR to provide thermal imaging that increases nighttime visibility. The device is shown through a camera and it allows the driver to see people, animals or whatever up to 2000 feet which is way further than we currently see in the dark. The cool think is you can continue to see that distance through snow, rain and snow. As you can imagine it’s been tested by the military too. This is a cool gadget, but for the price you will have to do some justification on why you need it.
Garmin has a free download that is available only on its nüvi GPS system, its called ecoroute. Ecoroute measures how environmentally friendly your driving is, rating you between 1 and 100 so you can see how well you are doing. It gives you real time feedback, which ideally saves you money and the environment all at once.
The Koolatron Compact Cooler gives you a place to put those cold ones and keep them cold, or a sandwich, or a…heck this thing is a refrigerator for your car! It was designed to fit in a tight place like between seats or behind one of them. It plugs into your cigarette lighter and keeps food 40 degrees cooler than the outside temperature.
Now if someone can just make a car stove to go along with the refrigerator we would all be set, for now we will have to be satisfied with frying eggs on the hood. In a later article I will be taking a look at some of the cool spy gadgets available on the market.

Almost every home allots a space for the dining area. Aside from our home, the hotels and some offices also allot a space for dining area. The furniture provides a better view in the dining room. The next thing to think about is how to design the dining room. The dining furniture has various functions, particularly for eating and serving.
Having the finest dining furniture could possibly let us have a presentable and pleasing room. Keep in mind that this is the place where our family stays more often next to the living room. We always use this room when consuming and serving the food. This is also the area where we typically entertain our guests for dinner or snacks. That’s why it is essential to have this place at its best.
Regularly, the dining furniture includes a dining table, dining chairs and side tables. Some home adds other useful furniture if they have more spaces and allots enough funds for the beautification of the dining room.
For an added attraction, there are some people that put accessories in the dining area.
Now when picking the furniture we have to be definite that the table would fit in our dining room. Keep in mind that it is situated ideally at the center of the dining room so we can easily serve meals without interfering our family member or the guest while they eat. Most essentially, consider the size of the family. We may have an elegant dining table but it isn’t sufficient for the whole family’s needs.
Moreover, the dining chair should be leveled enough for the table. It should be relaxing to sit on. There are some who favor to have a dining chair with arms. But, armless dining chair is also preferred by many. This actually depends on the comfort they want.
But then, it is easy to design and incorporate the furniture at the dining area when it’s bought at set. A perfect example for this is the Aico Dining set.
